SUPER YABAI

Hälinä-Keiju’s Super Yabai draws from Finnish melancholy: the underworld, death imagery, folklore and inherited national angst. The music glitches between club pulse, deep percussion and darker, otherworldly soundscapes, as rap, circus and stage poetry collide in the body.The result is strange, magnetic and curiously off-balanced while it hangs suspended in unresolved moral tensions.The work is approximately 20 minutes long and designed specifically for small clubs, alternative venues and other intimate performance spaces. Its compact format and minimal technical requirements make it highly adaptable.
